Specialised Marketing Mission For Construction And Building Materials To Mumbai And Chennai, India by MATRADE

MATRADE is pleased to inform that we will organise a Specialised Marketing Mission for Construction and Building Materials to Mumbai and Chennai, India from 27 – 30 June 2012.

The objectives of the Specialised Marketing Mission are:

• To further explore business opportunities for collaboration between Malaysian and Indian companies, especially in Mumbai and Chennai;
• To establish and strengthen useful business contacts and network with local project owners, contractors as well as government agencies and related associations; and
• To create greater awareness and visibility among the business community and the local public on Malaysia’s capabilities and expertise in providing world-class construction and professional services.

Seminar on "BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN CHILE, MEXICO AND PERU: THE MOMENT IS NOW” by MATRADE

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN Student Ideas Poster Competition on Design for Health 2012

Dear PAM Student Member

PAM is pleased to inform that the International Islamic University Malaysia is inviting PAM Student members to participate in The Design & Health “Health Communities” Student Ideas Poster Competition 2012 in conjunction with the 8th World Congress on Design and Health and the registration will open on Tuesday15 May 2012 until Wednesday 20 June 2012 (5.30pm).

The objective of this competition is to explore new ideas and perspectives on the planning and design of different building typologies that clearly supports the development of health environments.

This competition is open to all architecture students in Malaysia and other ASEAN countries at any level in their college or university.

The winner will receive an award package that includes complimentary registration to attend the congress, a winning certificate, attendance at the Gala Award dinner and the winning poster will be exhibited during the congress.

Public Consultation on Dealing with Construction Permits in Kuala Lumpur

Dear PAM Members

As you may be aware, the Public Consultation on Dealing with Construction Permits in Kuala Lumpur was launched by the YBhg Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hj. Hassan, Ketua Setiausaha Negara on 3 April 2012. The World Bank's 'Ease of Doing Business' study (2012) ranked Malaysia at 113th out of 183 countries in Dealing with Construction Permits. The scope of the study covered simple commercial projects in Kuala Lumpur. The parameters studied include number of interaction (procedure), time taken and cost (fee) by authorities. The Government is concerned with the outcome of the study. The current environment hinders development and results in 'opportunity loss' in direct investment. The government has started a transformation project with the main objective to design, build and implement a new working model that is acceptable to all stakeholders. It should drastically simplify and reduce procedures and time taken.

The Government hopes that the industry players like Architects, Engineers and other stakeholders which are directly involved in the construction industry would provide feedback and suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of the Government’s services delivery system. Therefore, you are invited to take part in a survey conducted by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation via their website at  www.mpc.gov.my/publicconsultation. The survey will be run until 3 June 2012.
