“Residential Green Design”
13 April 2013
Speaker: Ar. Chan Seong Aun
Venue: PAM Centre, Wisma Bandar, Kuala Lumpur

Synopsis:

Green has been in vogue since the earliest Architectural works. With increasing focus on form and iconic design, many modern buildings have increasingly depended on available technology to create their desired indoor environment. With the recent increasing awareness of the roles buildings play in contributing to green-house gases, there has been a refocus on “environmentally friendly” architecture. There are many differing views of what constitute green design. The key components of what constitutes green design and “environmental friendly” design is first reviewed. Some key principles of passive green architecture are explored. The key components of “Residential Green Design” are reviewed with reference to projects that Ar Chan has been involved in as GBI Facilitator. The main tools available for more details design in the tropical climate are reviewed and explained. Finally some major residential projects which have received GBI certification are reviewed as a learning experience.
