Throughout the years in Malaysia, the Architects Act 1967 whilst upholding the interest of the Architectural profession, had continuously safeguarded the public interest and welfare The Act had since been amended nine times and is now in the process of its tenth amendment scheduled to be tabled in Parliament by year 2013.

The proposed tenth amendment to The Architects Act 1967 is the result of the emergence of challenges that comes with the globalisation and services liberalisation so as its members will be in a position to be competitive in the global environment The proposed amendment has also been made to redefine existing regulations and make new inclusions and recognition of existing and new disciplines in Architectural Services that is the Inspector of Works and the Architectural Technologist.

There are an increasingly complex and wider liabilities and obligations in construction industry required as the responds to a more sophisticated demand in lifestyle of the community.
