Speakers' Biography

Ar Azman Zainal Md Nor started his architectural career in the Medical and Health Branch, Public Works Department in 1986. He recognises the value of innovative design approaches which are compatible with Malaysia's environment and culture, and endeavors to follow this trend bu moderated with sound constructional principles to ensure long term durability and reliability of all project undertaken.

Ar Azman Zainal founded Arkitek Azman Zainal in 2000. The company offers comprehensive services including master planning, architectural design, contract management, interior design and conservation.

The firm has within it a diverse range of expertise ranging from hospital planning, educational institutions, rehabilitation and restoration for historic buildings to office, commercial and residential buildings.

Speakers' Biography

Siti Syaliza Mustapha is the Senior Manager (Forest Management) at the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC), responsible in overseeing the development of forest management certification standards and the implementation of forest management certification programmes under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS). These include conducting training programmes for certification bodies, auditors, forest managers and other relevant stakeholders on the process and requirements of forest management certification as well as ensuring that the national standards conform to the international requirements under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). She holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability (Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden) and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Hons) (Environmental Biology) (USM).

She has previously served as the Director of Public and Corporate Affairs for the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) and has represented Malaysia in the Council meetings of the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO), Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES), ISO/TC207 and a number of regional and international meetings and conferences related to timber trade policies, market requirements, sustainable forest management and environmental management and conservation. She was the elected Chairperson of the ITTO Committee on Economic Information and Market Intelligence in 2009 and was a member of the ITTO Expert Panel for Technical Appraisal of Project Proposals from 2010-2012. At the local front, she has played an instrumental involvement in the development of the Malaysian Timber Legality Assurance System (MY TLAS) under the Malaysia-EU FLEGT Initiative. She has also played the role as the National Coordinator for the EU FLEGT Capacity Building Programme for Malaysia from 2009-2012.

She is currently a Member of three PEFC Working Groups in the review of the PEFC standards and technical documentation.
