PAM Academia Discourse 2021: Series 2, Session #2

The PAMad 2021 is to provide a platform for all academicians, curators, community activists, and practitioners include other professionals to share their research and design. It is a safe zone for the exchange of ideas and thoughts for the betterment of a better learning environment.

The objectives are:

  • Provide a platform for all academicians, curators, community activists and practitioners include other professionals to share their research and design.
  • Encourage the exchange of ideas and thoughts between all professions for a better learning environment.
  • Gather information, feedback, and resources from every stakeholder to add to Malaysia Architectural Education Archive under PAM.
  • Create more varieties and 'sparks' for the built environment.

Architecture Education During Covid-19 Pandemic

In this talk, some concerns, identifying and sharing methods of teaching and learning potentials plus the limitations arising from a current topic are discussed.

Synopsis:
In early 2020 coronavirus pandemic hit globally, creating sudden change in every part of society. Architectural education has had its fair share of challenges in this paradigm shift in order to be dynamic and effective in the midst of the crisis. This shift in architectural education calls for the need to address changes and new requirements sustainably. Harnessing this change should be the impetus for a long-overdue overhaul of the educational system and, in particular, the way we teach architecture approaches in teaching methodology, improve curriculum and make advancements in new learning arenas and digital environments. In this talk, some concerns, identifying and sharing methods of teaching and learning potentials plus the limitations arising from a current topic are discussed.
