Sustainability, Climate Change and New Urban Agenda (2023-2024)

Objectives

  1. Architecture has an impact on each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals & the 5 New Urban Agenda, and architects can help the goals to be achieved. The Committee have the responsibility to contribute to the built environment and assist and provide proper guides to our profession to make wise choices that change the world for the better—through better buildings, settlements, landscape architecture and urban planning.
  2. To outline action plans to resolve issues of climate change and urban growth by the promotion of sustainable social and environmental human settlements through the effective use of the New Urban Agenda in line with objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  3. To promote design and planning approaches those are socially responsible, inclusive, and accommodate the needs of all people.
  4. To assist and educate members to incorporate renewable energy production in buildings and settlements designed for low energy use by adapting to local geographic, climatic and cultural conditions.
  5. To promote measures that help to make cities more inclusive, safer and more resilient, and adaptive to anticipated climate change, with special attention to vulnerable segments of society.
  6. To create activities i.e. CSR, with other professions, with civic institutions, and with fellow citizens, to advance the goals to achieve a prosperous and sustainable future.
